To err is National

Do you know why the Washington Nationals are only a .500 team midway through May. Not only have they scored fewer runs (157) than all but two Major League Baseball teams -- the Los Angeles Dodgers (147) and the Miami Marlins (125) -- but they have also committed the most errors (37), The only reason why the Nationals are at .500 is because their pitchers have a combined earned run average of 3.60, which is good for ninth best in the majors.

Offense can come and go in waves, but the Nationals need to tighten up their defense if they have any hopes of making the postseason for the second year in a row.
