Just like 2011

Is this really going to happen again? Are the Boston Bruins really going to win the Stanley Cup after nearly being eliminated from the playoffs for the second time in three years?

Here's a quick reminder of that 2010-11 playoff season. Boston rallied from an 0-2 series deficit to eliminate the Montreal Canadiens in seven games. Then, the Bruins swept the Philadelphia Flyers before needing seven games to take care of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the conference finals. They capped it off by rallying from a 3-2 series deficit to beat the Vancouver Canucks in seven games for their first Stanley Cup since the 1971-72 season.

Flash forward to this year's playoff run, so far. The Bruins were on the ropes against Toronto -- in fact, they were less than two minutes away from scheduling tee times on the golf course in Game 7 -- before rallying to win the game and the series. Now, they're up 2-0 on the New York Rangers after today's 5-2 victory.

I'm not saying the Bruins are going to win the Stanley Cup (not with Pittsburgh looming as a possible Eastern Conference finalist), but it's starting to feel like 2011 all over again.
