Chicago came out strong with 19 shots on goal in the first period, but the Blackhawks only managed to get one shot past Boston goaltender Tuukka Rask. After that, the Bruins defense clamped down and limited the Blackhawks to 15 shots the rest of the night.
Boston's offense didn't generate nearly as many quality scoring opportunities as it did in Game 1 on Wednesday night, but the Bruins got the two goals they needed to pull out the overtime victory. Daniel Paille notched the game winner with 6:12 left in the extra session after Chris Kelly tied the score with his first goal of the playoffs.
Game 3 is Monday in Boston, and it will be very interesting to see which style of play we get. Will we see the wide-open, end-to-end action we saw in Game 1, or will we see the defensive battle of wills we got in Game 2? Chicago would love to press the action like it did in Wednesday's opener and the first period of Saturday's Game 2, but my gut tells me Boston has figured out how to slow the Blackhawks down just like it figured out how to slow down Pittsburgh's high-octane attack in the Eastern Conference Finals.
