Davis keeps blasting away

Chris Davis hit his 29th home run
of the season Saturday.

Baltimore's Chris Davis belted a three-run homer to left-center field in the first inning of tonight's home game against the New York Yankees. That gives Davis 29 home runs on the season. (Update: He also hit a two-run shot in the sixth inning for his 30th homer.)

What's interesting is that it doesn't matter what stadium Davis is playing in this year. He's now hit 14 15 homers at home and 15 on the road. He also has 36 38 RBI at Camden Yards and 41 RBI away from Camden Yards. last year, 22 of his 33 home runs came in Baltimore, and 51 of his 84 RBI at home.

The one thing Davis still can't do is hit lefties. His batting average this year against southpaws is .272, as opposed to .357 against righties (that was prior to his efforts Saturday night).

At his current rate, Davis should eclipse last year's home run total around the All-Star Break, and he has a legitimate shot at cranking 50 homers this season. Not bad for a guy who came into 2013 with 77 career home runs.
