Chicago couldn't do either in Game 3, which resulted in Boston's 2-0 victory and a 2-1 lead for the Bruins in the Stanley Cup Finals. Boston won 40 out of the 56 face-offs in the game, and its defense continued to place two or three players around anybody from Chicago carrying the puck.
Marian Hossa is expected to be in Chicago's lineup tonight, which could help the Blackhawks create some better scoring opportunities than they had in Game 3. But they still have to get the puck past Tuukka Rask, whose goals against average is at a Martin Brodeur-esque 1.64. It should be noted that Corey Crawford's GAA stands at 1.74, so he's holding up his end of the bargain for Chicago.
Jonathan Toews, on the other hand, needs to catch a break. He's scored one goal on 63 shots over the course of the entire postseason. So the problem isn't a lack of scoring chances, but rather a lack of success with the shots he's taking.
On Boston's end, there really isn't anything to tweak at this stage. The defense continues to swarm any puck carrier not wearing the "B," Rask is stopping nearly everything coming his way and virtually everybody is contributing on offense. As long as they don't suffer any breakdowns, the Bruins should be fine tonight.
